Abstract
The aim of this study was to analyse the Prepositions in Igbo language. The study discussed preposition itself, its functions and distribution of these prepositions in Igbo sentences. In carrying out this research, the study adopted the Principles and Parameters framework, data collected was gotten from native speakers of Igbo language as well as published and unpublished works in the language.
The oral data were collected in recorded conversations, this research work attempts to investigate the wide-spread notion that the Igbo language has only one Preposition. The findings are that apart from ‘nà’, other lexical items like ‘gbàsárá, bànyéré, màkà, bèlúsò’ can also function as Preposition in the language.
