This study investigated the youths, internet and sustainable development, a case study in of Final year undergraduate of the University of Benin, Benin City. The objectives used for the study are: to determine the impact of the youths in enhancing sustainable development employment in Nigeria; the factors affecting the accessibility of internet facilities in Nigeria; and whether the internet helped youth in wealth creation in Nigeria. Three (3) research questions were raised for the study. The study adopted survey research design. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire. It was built around the research question by the researcher and validated by the supervisor. Data collected were analysed using mean and standard deviation.
The major findings of the study are as follows: that the internet play a fundamental role to any nation’s developmental agenda especially when it comes to powering the youths for wealth creation. The high level of technological innovation that has been achieved by the youth are through the aid of the internet and youths who are been employed in companies today are youths in their early that are internet friendly. Most of the businesses springing up are owned by youths with adequate access to internet facilities. The latest developments currently in the world are powered by the internet as it serves as a place of education for youths who may not have enough money to go to a physical school and also as educational courses can be obtained from schools abroad via the internet. The internet gives youth wide access to information that are necessary for building a good business organisation. In assessing the factors affecting the accessibility of internet facilities. The inability to learn basic computer skills, unavailability of power supply, the high cost of internet facilities affects youth accessibility to internet services. It was however recommended that: government should ensure that youths are encouraged and enlightened on the use of internet facilities; government should ensure that adequate internet facilities are made available so that youths can easily assess thee facilities for effective wealth creation; and government should ensure the vast opportunities in the internet space are harnessed which can be a source o employment for the youths of the country.
