Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect employees worklife balance and organisational performance of staff of management science of the University of Benin, Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. To ascertain whether employee wellbeing affects organisational performance, to examine the extent to which employee enhancement influence employee performance, to find out if employee healthy work relations influence organisational performance, to determine the extent to which employee work interference with personal life affect organisational performance.

The population size of this study includes all staff at the faculty of management science, University of Benin, Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. and a sample size of 115 respondents were chosen during the duration of the fieldwork. The method adopted in this research is descriptive in nature. The data used in this study were obtained from primary sources and the data collected were analyzed with frequency distribution, mean and so on. From the findings, it was revealed that worklife life balance variables was found to be positive and significantly related to organisational performnace. In the light of the findings, it is important to note for an organisation to perform at optimum capacity, worklife balance practices need to be prioritized as this will reduce the rate of absenteeism, burnout and turn over in the organisation.

Based on the findings of this study, the following recommendations were made: Organisations should prioritize employee wellbeing more because a happy worker is a productive worker. This has the capacity to create a productive work environment and improve organizational performance. Organisations should support employees in enhancing their skill and upscaling on the job as this will lead to increased organisational performance. Organisations should promote a healthy work relation among staff as it will reduce work friction and will improve organisational performance. Organisations should promote a healthy worklife balance to help staff have enough time for family, social life and rest. This will reduce the rate of burn out at work and increase employee performance.
