ABSTRACT

The main purpose of this study was to determine the influence of work-based learning programme on skill proficiency of business education students in tertiary institutions in Delta. The summary of the major findings of the study are listed below: 1. SIWES has a high extent influence in enhancing skill proficiency of business education students in operating different office machines. 2. SIWES has a high extent influence in enhancing skill proficiency of business education students in keyboarding. 3. SIWES has a high extent influence in enhancing skill proficiency of business education students’ communication and administrative skill. 4. Teaching practice has a high extent influence in enhancing skill proficiency of business education students in effective classroom management. 5. Teaching practice has a high extent influence in enhancing skill proficiency of business education students in writing lesson notes/lesson presentation skill. 6. Teaching practice has a high extent influence in enhancing skill proficiency of business education students in relating field trips experience to life situation, 7. There is no significant difference between the mean ratings of male and female students on the influence of SIWES on skill proficiency of business  education students in machine operations, keyboarding and communication & administration. 8. There is no significant difference between the mean ratings of male and female students on the influence of teaching practice on skill proficiency of business education students in effective classroom management, lesson note planning and field trip experience.
