SUMMARY
The reason for the study is to examine Women Education in Benin City from 1960 to 2000. Its focus cuts across the concept of Women Education, the geography and Origin of the Benin People, the development of Women Education in Benin City, and the Issues and dimension of women Education in Benin City. It was found that education is a veritable tool to all and sundry in the society and as such anyone should not be denied the right not just to education but to quality education. The female folks for a long time have been victims to various forms of societal discrimination especially in the area of education. It was revealed it this study that denying the women education implies denying them the opportunity to be positioned for a better life. Girls and women gain an understanding of fundamental health, nutrition, and family planning concepts through basic education, giving them choices and the authority to make decisions about their own lives and bodies. Better reproductive health, improved family health, economic growth for the family and society, as well as lower rates of child mortality and malnutrition, are all directly impacted by women's education. Fertility, population growth, infant and child mortality, and family planning tend to improve significantly as women become more educated.
