ABSTRACT
This study explores the representation of women in leadership roles within Nigerian movies, focusing on the movie "Amina," directed by Izu Ojukwu. The investigation was prompted by the persistently challenging environment for women in Nigeria, where various barriers and biases hinder their access to leadership positions. The research aims to uncover the issues women face in leadership roles within Nigerian society, using the 2021 movie "Amina" as a case study. The study employs content analysis and examines the current strands of women's representation in leadership roles in Nigeria. It also investigates the underlying obstacles and impacts that impede women's progress in leadership positions and suggests strategies to enhance women's involvement in leadership roles in Nigeria. The study concludes that movies hold significant potential to advance gender equality and empower women in Nigerian society. The movie "Amina" is a notable stride towards achieving better representation and inclusion of women in leadership positions within Nigeria. As a result, the study recommends that filmmakers continue producing movies that showcase diverse female characters, highlighting various leadership styles, backgrounds, and experiences to foster inclusiveness and representation.
