ABSTRACT

The main purpose of this study focuses on whistleblowing and organizational sustainability in the faculty of management science, University of Benin. This work adopted a primary data research approach using questionnaire administered to workers of the faculty of management science, University of Benin. The sample size adopted for the work was 75 which was derived using the Taro Yamani's formula and the same number of questionnaires was distributed but only 63 of the questionnaires were retrieved. Descriptive analysis of our demographic variable and the validity of our research purpose were done using simple percentage while the research hypothesis was tested using Chi-square. In line with the findings of the study, the study concluded that there is a significant relationship between whistleblowing and organizational sustainability in the faculty of management science, University of Benin.

In light of the above findings, the study recommends, thestudyrecommends that investigators into whistleblowing cases should need to incorporate other measures like investigations foreffective prosecution of whistle blown corruption cases since whistleblowing alone cannot yield adequate evidence to assist inmakingjudgmentonacorruptioncase,. This will authenticate theinformation provided by whistle blowers and also collect more evidence regarding the reported corruption cases. The study also recommends that the international community should come up with strategiestoensurethatwhistleblowingmechanismsareeffectivelyutilizedtocombat illicit activities and corruption in the public sector. There is also the need to create an internal whistleblowing mechanism, as external whistleblowing could open up the organization to more public scrutiny.
