ABSTRACT
Artificial lift systems are among the most widely used production optimization techniques in global oil and gas operations. After producing for a period of time, some wells cannot produce crude oil to the surface under their natural pressures due to pressure losses in the system. Therefore, they would require artificial lift technologies to increase production. Majority of the producing wells in the world make use of artificial lift. Gas lift system is one of the artificial lift methods used or increase the producing life of oil or gas wells. The principle of Gas lift is the lowering the hydrostatic pressure inside the production tubing through the injection of lighter fluid into the annulus. Well X produced for nineteen years before the well stopped flowing. To revive the well optimally, and for the lifetime of the field to be extended, an artificial lift project (Gas Lift) with the aim to optimize its production was applied. Gas lift was chosen for the candidate well based on the availability gas, higher life time expectance and lower installation and operational cost. PROSPER was used to model the well and the optimum gas injection rate (3.24MMscf/day) that caused the well to flow was calculated by the system.
