ABSTRACT
Water quality describes the physical, chemical and biological qualities of water. The four main water quality indicators are pH, temperature, salinity and nutrients. Water quality assessment of UsenAda river was carried out via physicochemical parameters and periphyton to assess the quality of UsenAda river. Samples were collected from UsenAda river with three stations as a case of study. Sample collection was done with in a two weeks interval for three months; October to December. Result obtained shows that air temperature had a range of 27ºc to 33ºc, water temperature ranges from 24ºc to 33ºc, pH had a value range of 6.3 to 9.7 which signified that the river was alkaline in nature. Turbidity range of 2mg/l to 29mg/l. Nitrate had a value range of 0.2 to 3.7mg/l which was below the permissible drinking water standard. Dissolved oxygen had a value range of 1.0 to 8.75mg/l which is above the Who guideline for safe drinking water. Biological oxygen demand had a value range of 1.0 to 6.5mg/ lwhich is above the WHO standard.
