SUMMARY

This study has successfully carried out a research on combating human trafficking in Nigeria, using the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and Other Related Matters (NAPTIP) as a case study. In its discussions, this study enquired into the background of human trafficking in Nigeria and identified its possible causes and consequent effects on both the affected individuals (victims) and the country Nigeria. It also embarked on a comprehensive discussion on the establishment of NAPTIP, its mandate, composition, functions and powers. Most importantly, this study also attempted a review of the agency’s activities since its establishment in 2003 to 2021 and identified some of the challenges militating against the agency’s commitment towards the fulfillment of its mandate.
