ABSTRACT
This project aimed to visually represent the evolution of legal tender in Nigeria, spanning from the pre-colonial era (1959) to the present day (2023) and serves to inform, analyze, and address the multifaceted aspects of this complex process, contributing to a smoother and more equitable transition while promoting economic stability and financial inclusion. The methodology involved research, utilizing a diverse range of colors, sketch samples, technique and studio production process to depict the intricate changes within Nigeria's monetary history. The visual representations showcase the progression of legal tender in Nigeria, encompassing manila, cowries, pounds, shilling and pence (coins), and naira (paper), as well as alternative forms that emerged over time. Given the use of mixed media (graphical prints on paper) contributing to a deeper comprehension of Nigeria's economic and financial development.
