ABSTRACT
This abstract explores the potential of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies in improving library services for individuals with visual disabilities in Lagos State. The aim of this study is to understand how Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality can be utilized to enhance accessibility and inclusivity within library environments, specifically for users with visual impairments. The findings of this study will contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the use of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality in library services for visually impaired individuals. Additionally, it will shed light on the challenges and opportunities faced by libraries in Lagos State when implementing these technologies. The study will also provide insights into the preferences and needs of visually impaired library users, thus guiding the development of future Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality applications tailored to their specific requirements. The expected outcomes of this research include a comprehensive understanding of the potential benefits of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality technologies for visually impaired library users, as well as the identification of barriers and limitations that may hinder their effective implementation. The study will also provide recommendations for libraries in Lagos State on how to xii integrate Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality into their services, ensuring greater accessibility and inclusivity for users with visual disabilities. This research aims to bridge the gap between library services and individuals with visual disabilities in Lagos State through the use of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality technologies. By leveraging these technologies, libraries can create a more inclusive and engaging environment for visually impaired users, ultimately enhancing their access to information and knowledge.
