This research work provides an overview of the various techniques used for motion detection in video surveillance systems. In the sphere of security, a video surveillance system is extremely useful. We use motion detection to track moving objects and identify their activity. Extraction of information from surveillance allows us to classify objects, distinguish between vehicles and humans, or between animals and humans, and identify people. Some relevant uses include the ability to characterize human actions in video sequences that also contain animals or automobiles. Another application, for example, tracks both cars and humans at the same time. The capacity to track specific objects is the key feature of the motion detection system.
