ABSTRACT
This paper gives in details a study of the analytical embedded atom model in defining the phonon frequencies of FCC metals (Cu and Rh). It outlines first the term and formula applied to this model and established the various derivatives required to obtain the force constant tensor using the Born von Karman approach and later on the dynamical matrix for obtaining the phonon frequency of Cu and Rh, for our phonon graphs using the program by our supervisor.
It is equipped adequately with research gotten from both hardcopy subject related materials as well as internet sourced journals to aid in proper approach and understanding of new to light terminologies on embedded atom model.
At the end of this project, we should have obtained the phonon frequencies for copper and rhodium with their respective dispersion graphs. This project can serve as a leap in understanding the thermal properties of FCC metals.
