ABSTRACT

In Nigerian tertiary institutions, the traditional method of recording student attendance using handwritten records has faced numerous challenges, including fraudulent activities and time-consuming manual processes. This project addresses these issues by developing a modernized student attendance management system utilizing Quick Response (QR) code technology. Through a literature review, Object-Oriented System Analysis and Design Method(OOSAD) and Unified Modeling Language (UML) for system modeling in developing the web application , this project aims to improve attendance management in Nigerian universities and similar educational settings. By embracing QR code technology.  The adoption of this project offers numerous advantages by implementing a QR code-based attendance management system, institutions can significantly reduce fraudulent attendance practices, enhance efficiency in recording and managing attendance, and ensure real-time access to accurate data. Overall, the adoption of this project facilitates streamlined attendance management, empowers educators with valuable data insights, and reinforces the importance of regular attendance, ultimately enhancing the educational experience for both students and instructors.
