ABSTRACT
The study was conducted to determine the sources and utilization of information among poultry farmers in Idemili South LGA Anambra state, Nigeria. A multi-stage random sampling procedure was used to select 70 poultry farmers whose data was collected using a well structured questionnaire. The findings revealed that majority(67.1%) of the poultry farmers were male within the age of 41-50 (54.3%) and were literate (54.3%). The finding showed that 55.7% of the poultry farmers belongs to farmers cooperative society and operate on small scale poultry production. Sources of information on poultry keeping recommended practices iedntified and available to the farmers were ADP, Extension agents, Internet, media, conferences, research institute, family members, local government, ect. State ministry of agriculture was ranked first as the preferred source of poultry information. However, local government and text messages were the most accessible source of poultry information. Lack of access roads for farming was considered a severe problem to the poultry farmers. The level of use of information among poultry farmers was very high and there was no significant relationship between the respondents' socio-economic characteristics and the constraint faced by poultry farmers in the use of information sources.
