ABSTRACT

The objective of the study is to examine the utilisation of serial and research productivity of academic staff in Delta State University. The descriptive survey research design was employed in the study. The population consisted of all (187) academic staff in Delta State University. The total population also served as sample for the study. The instrument for data collection was the questionnaire, which was duly validated and certified by experts in the field. The data gathered was analysed using the descriptive statistics of frequency count, percentage, mean and standard deviation.

The findings of the study revealed that the utilisation of serial publication influence the level of research productivity of academic staff in Delta state university,               there is a high level of utilisation of serial publication by academic staff in Delta state university, the constraints to serial publication faced by academic staff in Delta state university are high and the number of strategies to enhance serial publication for research productivity is high.

The study concludes therefore that utilisation of serial publications has an impact on research productivity of academic staff in Delta state. The study recommends that the university management should ensure the infrastructures in place should be in good condition or working order to enable achievement of stated goals. Necessary support and infrastructures should be provided for academic staff to help in their use of serial publications.
