ABSTRACT
The challenge of waste disposal has become one of the most serious experimental problems facing many citied in Nigeria. High – density polyethylene (HDPE), low density polyethylene (LDPE) and polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) are nonbiodegradable plastics and they constitute a threat to the environment. Plastic recycling is one of the major means of tackling plastic waste management problem and the non0biogradability of plastic and other characteristics can be exploited to be used as a binder for producing parament bricks. In this study the combined mixture design method was adopted. This method combines the mixture components of the sand and plastic weight, and the process factors of moulding and cooling time to produce an optimal solution of and 49.959%, plastic 50.041%, melting time 6.08mins, melting temp 180oC, height 1.6647Kg, cooling time 14.338 mins. It has been shown that the combined mixture design method can optimize the parameters to get the best solution to form very good pavement brick with good strength.
