Abstract

The focus of this study is on the use of digital media for evangelisation by Catholic Archdiocese of Benin City (CABC) in Benin metropolis during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown.This study adopted the mixed research method. Four (4) parishes were selected in Benin City Deanery of the Catholic Archdiocese of Benin City. The instruments for data collection were the questionnaire and interview guide. The study found that digital media as a means of evangelisation is effective irrespective of challenges that militate against its use. This accounts for the high level of participation and satisfaction on the part of the faithful of CABC in Benin metropolis. The study concludes that there was a great level of effectiveness of the use of digital media for evangelisation and the extent of its use by CABC was high such that the faithful of CABC were satisfied with the use of digital media for evangelisation in the Archdiocese. The study recommended that due to the effectiveness of digital media for evangelisation and the satisfaction derived thereof, CABC should not relent in her effort to evangelise the faithful via digital media because streaming the Holy Mass would be of great benefit to the faithful especially those who are home bound.
