ABSTRACT
This study investigated limestone occurrence using Electrical Resistivity method. The results obtained in this study provided information on the geological structure of the study area. A horizontal distance of 200 m was covered with a depth of 39.6 m.
Five (5) major resistivity structures were delineated which form the lithological mineral composition of profile 3. The topsoil was humus in nature, as we go down the depth of 10 m we have Sedimentary Rocks like limestone between the resistivity range of 1889 Ωm – 2375 Ωm, followed by sandstone and Shale at resistivity ranges between 2200 Ωm – 3000 Ωm and above 4000 Ωm at a depth of 40 m to the last depth of investigation .
Six (6) major resistivity structures were delineated which form the lithological mineral composition of profile 4. The topsoil was humus in nature followed by clayey soil as we go down the depth of 10 m, the profile is characterize by Sedimentary Rocks like limestone between the resistivity range of 2000 Ωm – 3000 Ωm, followed by sandstone at resistivity ranges between 3622 Ωm – 5000 Ωm and above 5000 Ωm at a depth of 40 m to the last depth of investigation are more of igneous rocks. From the 2D Inversion for both profile 3 and 4, it was concluded that limestone is present in the study area as compared with the standard resistivity table.
