ABSTRACT
The growth of city and other built-up areas has become a major point of concern to urban planners. This concern has brought forth the concept of urban livability and Quality of life. Benin city is our study area, thus Urban livability and Quality of life in Benin city. The aim of this research work is to examine the perception of residents on urban livability and Quality of life in Benin city using selected socio economic indicators as a predictive factors. The objectives of this work are to examine the effect of livability components such as economic component, health and health services, social components, Education and educational services and housing and environmental components on the quality of life of individuals in Benin city The use of questionnaire and personal interview with residents of Benin City was employed in this research. The descriptive analysis used were frequency distribution and samples percentage. Regression model was used in testing the hypothesis to show if there is a relationship between the dependent variable and independent variables. As observed, based the research work high population has led to little availability of jobs, thus leading to residents engaging in petty business to cater for their needs . The city is also characterized by civil servants and artisan. There is improvement in Heath services and good educational standard but face with problem of housing and environmental issues to an extent Government provision of loans , business advises and creating of industries would solve unemployment issues . Good drainage and conducive environment would increase quality of life . Nevertheless, Benin city can be said to livable but have room for improvement and development.
