ABSTRACT
This study investigates the presence of unwholesome content in select rated Nollywood movies and the need for parental guidance. This research employs content analysis of a representative sample of Nollywood movies rated for child audiences. The content analysis reveals that many rated Nollywood movies contain scenes or themes that are inappropriate or unsuitable for child audience such as violence, explicit language, and sexual content among others. These findings underscore the need for parental involvement in monitoring and controlling children's access to such content. This study highlights the need for increased awareness among parents, caregivers, and policymakers about the presence of unwholesome content in Nollywood movies and their impact on children's development and well-being.
