ABSTRACT
This study examined the level of awareness and knowledge of copyright and intellectual property rights among students of the University of Benin in Benin City, Nigeria. A quantitative research approach was adopted by the researcher with data collected using a self-administered questionnaire. The sample consisted of 398 students from different departments within the university. The results of the study showed that many students are not properly educated on the importance of copyright and intellectual property law which might become a problem of creativity. The researcher recommended that the range of legal topics covered should be expanded beyond just copyright and Intellectual Property law, thereby increasing the legal knowledge of students.
