Summary
The research work has been looking into the menace of accidental firearm discharge by security personnel with the central focus of finding lasting solution to the social vice. The work emphasized the importance of security outfits in any society and the need of a cordial relationship between these outfits and the community. Such mutual understanding is however impossible where citizens properties are damaged and their lives lost as a result of negligent and reckless handling of firearm by the security personnel.
The fact that the problem under review is not peculiar to Nigeria was stressed, but that such incidents are better managed in other jurisdictions. The work identified some of the causes of the social vice and mentioned steps to be taken in ensuring that the menace is reduced to the barest minimum or totally kicked out of our political and social system.
In this concluding part of the work, the findings so far made in the work would be discussed after which the writer will make some recommendations and then make the conclusive statement.
