ABSTRACT
Since the establishment in the 1947, the United Nations International Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has accomplished a great deal. It has been effective in reducing child death rates, raising in sex ratio, significantly reducing and malnutrition and raising in public awareness of good nutrition and cleanliness habits. Aside from funding, the UNICEF has performed admirably in the field of women’s and children welfare, as evidence by the Noble Peace Prize. It was awarded on October 26, 1965. It has made good use of it’s limited resources by lending its technological know-how to national government hosted programs this is one of the reasons UNICEF, despite its ubiquity and importance as a government partner is always invisible. The ideal that poverty is a multifaceted phenomenon whose experience extends beyond is the foundation for concentrating on child poverty. The fight against poverty and child abuse in Nigeria has been significantly bolstered by the effort of UNICEF. Through its comprehensive programs and initiatives, UNICEF has played pivotal role in addressing the root causes of poverty and child abuse in Nigeria. By focusing on education, health care, nutrition, child protection and advocacy, UNICEF has made strides in improving the lives of millions of children and families across the country.
