ABSTRACT
The issue of industrial strike actions in Nigerian universities has been an old menace. It has affected the government, lecturers, parents and students. This study which utilized a survey as its methodological template researched how strike actions have impacted the University of Benin students. With the help of systems theory, the researcher revealed that strike actions contribute significantly to the loss of interest in academics by students. It contributes in no little way to the elongation of the stipulated time frame for the study of a particular course in a Nigerian university. This study concludes by stating that strike actions do have negative effects on the student's performance among other things. This however must stop.
