ABSTRACT
The study investigated undergraduates study pattern and academic achievement in university of Benin. Study pattern refers to a well planned and deliberate way of studying which has attained a form of consistency on the part of the students towards the understanding and attaining of academic achievement. This study also talks about the relationship between the study pattern and academic achievement where lecturers, students, guidance and counselors can help students to develop good study pattern in other to enhance their academic achievement. Academic achievement which is a complex process that is influenced by several factors among which study pattern is one of them.
The design adopted for the study was descriptive survey design. It was considered suitable for the study since a structured questionnaire was used as the research instrument to seek for opinion of people already marked out for the study. Furthermore, the data collected was collated and analyzed. The population of the study consisted of all 75,000 undergraduates which cut across the 15 faculties In university of Benin. The raw data collected from the selected faculties were thoroughly checked for consistency and accuracy. Data was analyzed with the use of mean analysis.
Based on the findings of this study, major recommendations revealed that undergraduates should know the resources available to them, utilize learning centers, knowing their limit, adopt good study pattern and also be organized. Also, it was recommended that undergraduates should develop self quizzes.
