ABSTRACT
This essay examines trauma in Akachi Adimora-Ezeigbo’s Trafficked and Ikechukwu Asika’s Tamara. It analyzes the themes of hopelessness, fear, shame and guilt as the visible manifestations of trauma on the victims of human trafficking. Employing the trauma theory by Cathy Caruth, this portrays the harrowing experiences of individuals entrapped in the vicious cycle of human trafficking, shedding light on the profound psychological impact of such exploitation. Through close textual analysis, this study seeks to deepen our understanding of how trauma is represented and processed in literature, particularly within the context of human trafficking narratives.
