Abstract

The study examined trauma and displacement in Iweala’s Beast of no Nation and Okparanata’s Under the Udala Tree. It explored the issues of trauma and displacement, further buttressing on the various kinds of trauma such as physical and psychological trauma, displacement in various areas such as geographically, psychologically and individually in the post independent Africa.

The study adopted the qualitative research methodology, which involved a textual analysis of the motif of displacement and trauma, psychological and physical trauma, the issues of displacement which involved geographical, individual and psychological levels of displacement, the experiences of victims of war and the postwar realities that these narratives tell, with the view to redefining human perception of war and its aftermaths.

The study found out that trauma and displacement is one of the painful effects of war. The trauma of war can result to displacements economically, socially, individually, geologically and individually thereby affecting the mind as well.
