ABSTRACT
This study examines translation of Idioms and Proverbs in Igbo Language. This study sets out to identify the levels of translation in performative translatology using Idioms and proverbs as a case study. It equally Analysed the data to show translability and untranslability in Igbo Idioms and proverbs, and causes of the Untranslability. The source of data for this study was collected from a book tittled "Okonkwo, Ntụgharị akụkọ Things FALL APART, By Maduabuchi S. Agbo and Chioma E. Agbo. The data were presented and described with the performative translatology of M.K.C Uwajeh. The work established that some idioms are unstranslable, and the importance of the fourth level of translation while translating Idioms and Proverbs from Igbo Language to English Language.
The analysis of the data reveals the important facts as the research finds, for instance why culture affects translation, the competent and performance of a translator, and the task of a translator.
