ABSTRACT
This research work examined training and development and employee performance in an organization, using Integrated Data Service Limited, Benin City, Edo State as a case study. The objectives of this study are to ascertain: what training and development programmes exist in integrated data service limited Benin City; how effective are these training and development programmes in Integrated Data Service Limited Benin City; and how effective are these training and development programmes in Integrated Data Service Limited Benin City. Data for this study was obtained with the use of questionnaire and presented using the mean. The hypothesis was tested using chi-square statistics and regression. From the result of findings, it is evident that training and development programmes exist, is effective and have an impact on employees of the organization. Basically, the research was concerned with references on text books on the subject matter. Training and development; its aim was to understand the basic concepts and approaches to understanding training and development and its undisputable relevance to employee performance in an organization. It was therefore recommended that effort should be geared towards linking training and development and employee performance of various organizations. For a successful business activity, training and development should be a continuous process in the organization.
