As recent Planetshakers albums go, this one is enjoyable. In my opinion, they aren't great song writers because their lyrics don't have any depth or substance. They rely primarily on cliches and recycled themes from other hits. But where they usually shine is on high quality musicianship so I listen to subpar lyrics because I enjoy the sound of the instruments. Through the years, their music tended to be drum, bass and guitar heavy, driving the music so that arenas of young people will jump and dance. That's not a criticism because it's working for them. The last couple of albums had gotten away from driving music and turned more electronic, relying on synthesizers and their MacBook Pro to make the music. I didn't care for that style at all. This album is a return to their more traditional style, with long anthem-like songs. It's got high energy songs you can sing at the top of the lungs, and feel like you're in a live recording. There are more driving guitars and drums and less synthesizers. The exception is that Planetshakers has gone to including a dubstep bridge in every fast song they do. It's not bad, but it's losing its effect because they do it every song now instead of once in a while. Tends to make the bridges all sound the same. That's my only real complaint of the dubstep. Favorites here are Covered, Joy and Stronger Than a Thousand Seas. If you like live praise and worship recordings, with big sound and high energy, this album is for you. You should also check out music by The Band Justus too.
