ABSTRACT
Marriage ceremonies in many traditional Nigerian communities represent a special event where a union between couples are given a seal of approval by both families of the individuals involved and the community at large. Such event also presents a unique opportunity for the non-indigene to witness first-hand, the artistic and cultural displays of the community. In Ika community of Delta State, a typical marriage ceremony is characterized and enlivened by a plethora of artistic and theatrical elements. This study investigated these elements and by extension underscored the contribution of these elements to the overall aesthetics of the ceremony.
