ABSTRACT
Obviously, it has been brought to mind that racism is one of the major problems in Black American literature and has triggered concerns over the years. This study will attempt to make readers realize the language of racism in Black Boy by analyzing the concept of racial segregation of Black in the text of study. The historical perspective of Black segregation through language and all the ways Blacks reacted to racism. This study looks at how language is used to show racism in and racism in black boy. Racism is an elusive, emotional and historical fact of American society.
In contemporary society, the problem viewed in the context of the novel is of a historical legacy that includes slavery, constitutional denial of equal rights, legal support of second - class citizenship and ubiquitous various forms of physical, emotional, social, economic and psychological exploitation and oppression of the blacks. This study looks at how language is used to show racism, the different ways Richard wright used the tool of language to portray racism.
This study adopts the qualitative method of research in looking at the language of racism in Richard wright Black Boy. The findings of this study revealed that racial slurs and Black-and-White metaphor are
predominantly the language expressions of racism in Black boy.
