ABSTRACT
This study was undertaken to investigate the use of instructional materials for teaching CRS in secondary school students in Abakaliki local government area of Ebonyi State. The descriptive survey research was adopted for the study. The instrument for the study was a questionnaire. The method of data analysis used in analyzing the data gotten from the respondents was Simple percentage and table. Findings from the study revealed that the use of instructional materials in teaching CRS in secondary schools help to improve students academic performance in the subject in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. Findings also revealed that, most CRS teachers are not trained on how to make use of advanced instructional materials for teaching CRS in secondary school in Abakaliki Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. Findings also showed that students who are taught CRS with the use of instructional materials perform significantly better in the subject than students who were taught CRS without the use of instructional materials, and lastly, findings revealed that the Government and School Management have a role to play in the provision of the necessary instructional materials needed for a quality teaching and learning process. Also, the teachers are encouraged to make use of instructional materials while teaching and ensure proper maintenance of the instructional materials. Based on the findings recommendations were made.
