ABSTRACT

The utilization of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in library services delivery has emerged as a significant facet of modernizing academic institutions, impacting the academic performance of undergraduate students in various faculties, including the Faculty of Engineering. This abstract provides an overview of the role of ICT in library services and its influence on the academic performance of undergraduate engineering students based on past information. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) integration into library services has revolutionized the traditional approach to information retrieval and dissemination in academic settings. Academic libraries have evolved from conventional repositories of print materials into dynamic hubs of digital resources, enhancing accessibility, convenience, and efficiency in information retrieval. ICT tools and services, such as online catalogs, electronic databases, digital libraries, and remote access to resources, have become indispensable components of modern library infrastructure. The impact of ICT on the academic performance of undergraduate engineering students is multi-faceted. Firstly, ICT-equipped libraries offer students the ability to access a vast array of academic resources, including e-books, journals, research papers, and multimedia materials, fostering comprehensive and in-depth learning. Moreover, the convenience of 24/7 access to digital resources facilitates self-paced learning, thereby empowering students to tailor their study schedules to suit their individual needs and preferences. Additionally, ICT facilitates collaborative learning through virtual study groups, forums, and online discussion platforms, enabling students to engage in knowledge sharing and problem-solving beyond the physical confines of the library. This collaborative aspect fosters a deeper understanding of complex engineering concepts and encourages critical thinking, both of which are essential for academic success.
