ABSTRACT
This work is entitled Traditional praise poetry of the Igbos. Its purpose is to analyze praise poetry and understand the praise poetry features as distinct from other types of poetry. This work will be in five chapters
Chapter one will deal with the introduction. The chapter will introduce the work, it will also explain what is meant by praise poetry and how it differs from other forms of poetry, it will also highlight the significance, purpose of the study as well as the scope of the study.
Chapter two will examine the literary review on poetry. In this chapter, the researcher will review what other scholars have written about poetry in general and Igbo poetry in particular
While chapter three will examine theoretical framework. This chapter will examine the theory used in the anlaysis.
The fourth chapter will deal with analysis of praise poems such as “Abu Ndu” “Nkele Egede’ and “Adamma” . And finally the fifth chapter will be summary, conclusion and references.
