ABSTRACT
The study investigated the Yekhee syllable structure. This work provided a detailed description of the Yekhee syllable structure and its explained the syllable requirement. The data were sourced from native speakers of the Yekhee language using the Ibadan 406 word list. From the research it was found out that Yekhee language has two syllable structure which are the cv and v syllable structures. This work offered a syllable-based explanation for the occurrence of these structures in the language. The syllable structure of the language came up with the conclusion that the language operates an open syllable system and that is a sequential constraint in the combination of phonemes to form words of the language. The study concluded that the unit of analysis is of immerse importance in phonological discourse.
