ABSTRACT
The study investigated the students' perception towards the teaching sex education in Junior Secondary School in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State.
The descriptive survey design was used for the research work. To guide this study, five research questions were raised. Questionable were designed and used for data collection. The population of the study comprised of one hundred and seventeen four junior secondary schools in Ovia North East Local Government Area. A sample size of one hundred (100) students was drawn using the simple random sampling technique. The data retrieved from respondents were analyzed using percentages and frequency.
The study revealed that teaching of sex education is not often in junior secondary school in Ovia North East Local Government, when there are, the students are either shy to learn from their teachers or opposite sex in the same classroom, uninterested in the topic due to home upbringing and religious beliefs or they are more interested in learning with their peers. However, for effective teaching of sex education to the learners, family and religious bodies could as well try to teach sex education to their children at any given opportunity and not leaving the whole work for their school teachers alone.
