Abstract:
The primary objective of this study is to delve into the organizational structure and operational dynamics of the Amadin Orphanage home within the context of Edo state, where it has been heralded as a vehicle for nurturing rural children and motherless babies, thereby contributing to community development. Through a detailed examination of this case study, it becomes evident that the genesis of the Amadin Orphanage home stemmed not from a meticulously planned initiative, but rather from the pressing needs of rural communities. Furthermore, the study highlights the pivotal role played by local non-governmental organizations (NGOs) like the Amadin Orphanage home in garnering support from international donor agencies, facilitating the implementation of various projects aimed at addressing the welfare of orphans and vulnerable children.
The dynamic functions of the Amadin Orphanage home encompass a spectrum of activities, including capacity building and technical assistance for orphans, the promotion of educational opportunities, and the provision of essential care to safeguard children from the perils of parental neglect. The secondary aim of this research endeavor was to methodically identify and elucidate the primary challenges encountered by advocates and facilitators of Amadin Orphanage home projects. Among the foremost hurdles within the realm of Amadin Orphanage home initiatives lies the phenomenon of supply-driven approaches, where the focus predominantly revolves around the provision of resources without due consideration to the demand side dynamics. It is imperative to recalibrate strategies to encompass a more balanced approach that accounts for the demand side requisites, entailing greater engagement and contributions from members of the public. Conversely, deficiencies on the supply side pose formidable obstacles to the effective implementation of Amadin Orphanage home projects. These challenges encompass a spectrum of issues, ranging from inadequate collaboration with governmental entities to limited support from both international and national humanitarian non-governmental organizations. Additionally, the scarcity of essential infrastructure and financial resources further exacerbates the operational constraints faced by advocates of the Amadin Orphanage home cause.
