ABSTRACT
This study was able to contribute to knowledge by reviewed scholarly articles, books, and reports on childlessness and its socio-cultural implications. This study identified gaps in current knowledge relevant to Owan Local Government Area. It focused on the specific cultural practices and beliefs of the Edo State community regarding marriage and childbearing. This study conducted qualitative and quantitative research (triangulation/mixed methods) using exploratory surveys to collect data from married couples, about their experiences and perceptions regarding childlessness. Organised discussions with different demographic groups to gain insights into societal attitudes and pressures related to childlessness. The study explored individual or family case studies to understand the personal and social ramifications of childlessness on marriage dynamics, emotional well-being, and community relationships.
