Igbe an urhobo word means dance, was founded by Ubiecha Etarakpo in 1858. It is alleged that Ubiecha was seen as a mad man who was avoided by his neighbors in kokori because of his lifestyle. Not until he was blessed with the power of healings by a strange spirit that appeared to him while in the forest. The power of healing that was given to Ubiecha with a chalk (Orhen), with this native chalk, he healed sick people like the mad man who was ill for a long time. Also, Ubiecha also used the power to detect people who practice witchcraft. At that time, witches and wizards were highly not acceptable by the people because it was used to stop progress of individuals, therefore, suspected practicers of the acts were summoned at ubiecha’s compound for confession. All of this still continued even after the passing of the Igbe founder and it is still practiced till this present time.
