Abstract
This study was an investigation into the secessionist activities in the south East of Nigeria and its effects on the economy of the region, taking Anambra State economy as a case study .In the course of this study four research questions were raised to guide the study and the population consists of one hundred persons (100).four research questions were answered and the instrument for data collection was questionnaire which comprised of sixteen questions drawn from the research questions.The instrument was validated by expert in the Department of Political Science. The generated data was subjected to SPSS analysis using mean and standard deviation for the research questions. Finding of this study clearly revealed that; secessionist activities in the South East affect the economy of Anambra State to a large extend, it was discovered that there are causes of the secessionist activities in the South East region of Nigeria finding also revealed that the state failure is a casual factor responsible for Biafra resurgence in Nigeria. In view of the fact that the secessionist activities in the South East affect the economy of the region, Nigerian government should try its possible best to bring an end to the secessionist activities through dialogue or other means.This would be possible if the government look into the causes of the secessionist activities and address it with urgency and priority, so as to bring peace and harmony in the region and the Nigerian State at large.
