ABSTRACT

This study investigates the roles of social workers in influencing childhood socialization through mass media in Ovia Local Government Area, focusing specifically on the case study of UDSS Ovia Local Government Area, characterized by its diverse cultural landscape, presents unique challenges and opportunities in shaping the socialization process of children. The influence of mass media, including television, radio, and digital platforms, on childhood development has become increasingly significant in recent years. Social workers play a pivotal role in mediating the impact of mass media on children's socialization, facilitating positive outcomes while mitigating potential risks.

Through a comprehensive analysis of existing literature, this study explores the theoretical frameworks underpinning the relationship between mass media and childhood socialization. Concepts such as social learning theory, cultivation theory, and symbolic interactionism provide valuable insights into how children internalize media messages and construct their social realities. The study also examines the role of social workers as agents of change in this process, drawing upon their expertise in child development, media literacy, and community engagement.

Using a mixed-methods approach, including surveys, interviews, and observational studies, the research assesses the perceptions and practices in UDSS regarding mass media influence on childhood socialization.
