ABSTRACT

This study concludes that the UN has not reduced the incidence of global terrorism in Afghanistan through her resolutions. Notably, other federal agencies have been thwarting terrorist attempt in Afghanistan and beyond, hence, international terrorism cannot be reduced via UN resolutions, if the problem of impartiality and lack of fund faced by UN is not decisively stamped out. Also, the war against terrorism may linger if those factors necessitating international terrorism are not squarely addressed. Hence there is need for the restricting of the international system to pave the way for equality. By doing these the United States should refocus and re-adjust, its policy on the Middle East to be fair and impartial, to enable United Nations justly fight terrorism in international system.

Again, we conclude that there is a positive link between invasion of Afghanistan by US and her Middle East foreign policy. The officially stated goals of the foreign policy of U.S. are, among other things, to create a more secure, democratic and prosperous world for the American people, in the first place and secondly, for the international community. From the facts discussed above, the security of Middle East in the eyes of U.S means uninterrupted access to Middle East oil, protection of Israel and U.S investigations as well as maintenance of U.S hegemony in the region. An attempt to reverse this trend was strongly resisted as manifested in the events that later culminated to the gulf wars, thus validating the first hypotheses that there is a positive link between invasion of Iraq by the United States and her Middle East policy.
