ABSTRACT
Distance learning is an excellent method of reaching learners that are separated both by distance and time from a source of information. The structure of distance learning gives students the greatest possible control over the time, place and pace of education system. To be effective, distance education programs need to redefine the roles of the Internet in learning-teaching process. This study is aimed at exploring the role of the Internet in distance learning education, using University of benin as a case study. To achieve the study aim and objectives, questionnaires were distributed to respondents as a method of data collection, the collected questionnaires were analysed. The inevitable conclusion that can be drawn from this study is that the Internet plays a significant role in distance learning education by improving the flexibility and quality of learning. It is recommended that further research should be carried out on this project within the University as it will be of great impact on the development of Distance Learning Educations and even to other sectors in the University.
