This study focuses on the role of the church in the advocation of women rights in Otolo Community in present day Nnewi North Local Area of Anambra State. Historically, one of the fundamental questions and curiosities that have dominated and still dominating the minds intellectuals are the problem of the violation of the rights of women within a given community. This problem has been called to question. Social critics, feminist groups, human rights activists, religious organizations and other bodies or agencies have come out to speak against such ill traditional practice. Sequence to these widespread criticisms from these plethora of individuals and groups, many nations and parts of the world had long began to adopt a new model and orientation between the two sexes; the traditional dichotomy being practiced in the past has been replaced with equal recognition between the two sexes. Women in most parts of the world are no longer being seen as inferior or mere tools in the hands of men but are given equal opportunity and accorded the same respect. Women are today occupying various political positions. Women are today heads in most organizations and areas of human endeavors. Unfortunately, and ironically, despite these growing concerns and efforts at eradicating gender bias and discrimination, the women in Otolo Community continue to suffer dehumanization, oppression, violation, relegation and abuse from their male counter-part. They are not given equal opportunity, nor are their rights being accorded them. This sad scenario calls for intellectual approach towards resolving this problem. It was against this backdrop that this project was set to address. Hence, in a bid to resolving the problem of violation of women’s right in Otolo Community, the Churches (Orthodox and Pentecostal Churches) were adopted as lenses to addressing this traditional seemly unabated women’s rights violations in Otolo Community.
