ABSTRACT

With the introduction of indoor staging, stage lighting has become a crucial component of theatrical production that cannot be overlooked. This is because every other component of a theatrical performance, including performers, costumes, makeup, and sets and scenery, depends on light to disclose its color, shape, and size. This research revealed the role of stage lighting as a crucial and important element of the theatre because it unites all of the production's visual elements and also as a communicative tool between the performers and the audience through the stage play, "THINGS FALL APART". To achieve this study, Chapter One gave a background to the study as well as the general preamble of the research topic. In the following chapter, reviews on the nature of stage lighting, the functions, qualities and psychological effect of stage lighting, history of stage lighting, theoretical perspectives, current practices in lighting design, the relationship between stage lighting design and theatrical performance, and the impact of stage lighting on audience perception were discussed on. Chapter Three entailed the author's biography, play synopsis, Directorial concept, the play's technical requirements, lighting plot, cue sheet, and the performance report. Chapter Four concluded this study with a summary of this study, making necessary suggestions/recommendation, as well as conclusion and the bibliographical documentation of this study.
