ABSTRACT
Agropreneurship Development in Ovia North East" explores the impact of social media platforms on the growth and development of agropreneurship initiatives in the Ovia North East region. This study examines how social media tools and platforms are leveraged by agropreneurs to enhance communication, market access, information sharing, and networking within the agricultural community. By analyzing the use of social media in promoting agribusiness ventures, this research aims to provide insights into the opportunities and challenges associated with integrating digital technologies in agropreneurship activities.
This study examines the role of social media in promoting agropreneurship development in Ovia North East, Edo State, Nigeria. A questionnaire was administered to 50 agropreneurs randomly selected from various farms in the area. The study found that social media platforms are effective tools for promoting agropreneurship initiatives, providing valuable networking opportunities, showcasing products or services, facilitating knowledge sharing and learning, and enhancing market research and understanding consumer preferences. challenges such as lack of access to finance, technical know-how, and limited internet connectivity were identified. The study recommends that agropreneurs establish a professional online presence, promote the use of social media platforms, and participate in Twitter chats related to agriculture, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and sustainable development. Additionally, government support, funding, and grants are necessary to start and scale agribusinesses, facilitate market access, and strengthen extension services. The study contributes to the understanding of social media's impact on agropreneurship development and provides insights for stakeholders to support agropreneurs in overcoming challenges and promoting sustainable agricultural development and economic growth in the region.
