THE ROLE OF PUBLIC RELATIONS IN ENHANCING PEACE IN HIGHER INSTITUTION

ABSTRACT

The study highlighted the importance of public relations in enhancing peace in higher institutions, specifically at The University of Benin. The study became necessary to ascertain the importance of public relations in higher institutions and the relevance of public relations in the University of Benin during crisis situations .The survey method was used to collect data for the study, with 100 respondents drawn from the population of 903. The results of the study shows that majority of respondents agreed that public relations plays a vital role in enhancing peace in higher institutions. Additionally, respondents agreed that public relations serves a management function in higher institutions. The study recommends that public relations should be given more attention in higher institutions to enhance mutual understanding and mutual relations among students, staff, and management. This is important for creating and maintaining a peaceful and harmonious environment in higher institutions. By building a positive image and satisfying the information needs of the public, public relations can help to enhance the reputation and credibility of higher institutions.
